Detailed Description of Executive Director Role

Provide overall leadership to the organization and serve as spokesperson for YRCA and liaison to the Board of Directors. Ensure clear and consistent internal communication.

Provide leadership and support to the Governance Committee, Budget Committee and Fundraising Committee.

Ensure proper handling of finances. Communicate monthly with the bookkeeper to process monthly financials. Work with the board treasurer to ensure that quarterly financial reports are available to the board. Work with the budget committee to ensure that the annual budget is prepared and approved by the board.

Oversee data management for fundraising and list communication.

Program assistance:

Help plan and execute community events and programs.

Oversee implementation of programs and evaluate effectiveness of programs and support program reporting.

Fundraising:

Complete bulk mailing at least once annually.
-
Oversee and participate in Major Donor cultivation and asks.
-
Write grants to contribute to YRCA’s annual budget.
-
Lead the efforts of the fundraising committee.
-
Oversee donor acknowledgement.
-

Communication:
-
Oversee the efforts of the Americorp Vista on social media and other outreach.
-
Write and send email blasts and press releases as needed.
-

Management:
-
Recruit and manage volunteers.

Provide supervision and management for the Americorp Vista assigned to YRCA.
-

Community Outreach and Partnerships:
-
Maintain relationships with key community partners.
-
Speak about YRCA at occasional community events.
-
Oversee staffing of YRCA table at community events.
-

Comply with filing requirements, including 990 and other state or federal requirements.
-
Ensure proper storage, security and retention of records.
